My real plan was to go here for Happy Hour, but we didn’t make it in time, which was fine, there were many things on the dinner menu that had caught my eye. This is a newer place and I have been watching them on Facebook and just waiting to try them out.
I was reading the menu to my husband on the way over, so we already had a good idea of what we were going to get. I hadn’t looked at the drink menu though and they had some great creative bourbon and vodka drinks. Of course I started with a beer, Double Mountain.
I started with the beet salad that had huge chunks of beets and these candied hazelnuts that we so good. I love a good beet salad.
The entree I chose was the Pork Shank. The presentation on this thing was impressive. It was set atop creamy polenta and drizzled with a broth reduction with beer and a tiny bit of brown sugar and mustard. I know because it was different enough I had to ask what was in it. The other side I chose to go with my meal was the stewed lentils. It was a suggestion from our server and I loved them.
My husband got the roast beef. It was a prime rib and it was a large serving. He ordered fries, which were really good and crisp and the mac and cheese. The mac and cheese had a smokey flavor to it. I didn’t care for it, but he loved it and we had left overs and brought it home to my son, who said some of the best ever. So there you go, what do I know.
By now we are stuffed and have so much left overs, but I had read that we were not to skip dessert. Well if you have followed me at all you know we rarely get dessert. So we ordered the Salted Caramel Cheesecake. She brings out this bowl. I look confused, she gave me a funny look…I finally said that it looked like creme brulee. She said that it did present itself that way, but just wait until you taste it. Well, we ate the whole entire thing. It’s true, save room for dessert.
My plan is to go back and try the Happy Hour because I really want to try the veggie burger with beets. I’m supposed to add chevre and arugula pesto. Also we were told to try the Brookie.
- Atmosphere is very minimalist. I really liked it. It’s a great place for large parties with all the tables that could easily push together.
- Pricing was great. We each got a drink, 1 salad, 2 entrees that came with 2 side dishes and a dessert to share. All for $55. The left overs were enough for whole other meal.
- Service was some of the best we have had in a long time. Great with suggestions and always checking in.
- They had beer, wine and great cocktails.
- Township and Range is located off of Hawthorne.
