Life of Pie

I had heard about this new comer, Life of Pie, but it wasn’t until I walked past it that I knew I wanted to give it a shot. I like the neighborhood, space and the cool pizza oven. I love wood fired pizza with thin crusts and creative toppings, and their menu looked great.

At Life of Pie you walk up to the counter to order what you would like, then you go grab a table. We were kind of surprised by this, so as my husband was still parking we started a few things and she just left our tab open. I liked that not only because we weren’t completely sure what he wanted, yet we were starving, so we were able to start a few things. Also because we weren’t sure if we had ordered enough. Either way leaving our tab open solved all our problems.

Arancini from Life of Pie

We ordered arancini to start. I really do like these and have ordered them all over town. They are fried balls of goodness. I won’t sugar coat them into being anything healthy, but they are good.  I liked the way Life of Pie did them. They added lots of mozzarella inside so it was like a gourmet cheese stick. These were really good and I loved having something small while we waited.

We also wanted to try the Kale salad. I am glad another family member suggested it, because I wanted it, but I wasn’t sure my suggestion would fly. This was done really well with a honey lemon dressing. The dressing although sweet, was still had the tangy lemon in it. Really well done!!  I would order this again for sure.

Now for the real good stuff. We ordered 2 pizzas. The Margherita which was perfect. I know this is a simple pizza, but it’s a favorite of ours and we were not disappointed.

Salami

Salami, Mama Lil’s Peppers, Goat Cheese and Honey

The other one we got was the CHOP Spicy Salami, Mama Lil’s Peppers, Goat Cheese & Honey. I love goat cheese, but the others don’t so we ordered goat cheese on half.  The goat cheese was not heavy and once it’s cooked it is a really mild cheese. I did share my half and we agreed it wasn’t strong. We all loved this pizza and wished for another one, but we were satisfied with what we got and left satisfied.

I loved the thin crust cooked until nice and crispy. Yes the edges did have a few charred spots, but that’s wood fired pizza for ya. I also loved that the toppings were not over the top or over powering. Perfect balance on both pizzas. We will be back for sure. Great, great pizza.

  • Atmosphere here is very casual with order at the counter. The wood fire theme was every where, like literally every where as you could see firewood stuffed under benches and chairs. Pretty cool.
  • Pricing was $10-$12 for a pizza and each pizza had 4 big pieces.
  • Service was great. Even though you ordered at the counter, they brought out all your food and cleared plates too. You filled your own water though.
  • They had 4 beers on tap and some bottled beer and a small wine selection.
  • Life of Pie is located on N. Williams
