Grain & Gristle
We have tried to get into Grain & Gristle a few times. Each time we show up there seems to be a wait, and we never feel like waiting it out. Finally we got smart and showed up at like 2 in the afternoon. Score! Nearly had the place to ourselves AND you could order breakfast or lunch.
As we were trying to decide which to order they came out and told us about the bagel plate. Well that sounded amazing! So we ordered it. Not only was presentation top notch, but everything on it was perfect. We dug in and tried every combo. This was mighty filling, but don’t worry we had also ordered meals.
My husband really wanted breakfast, so he chose the hash of the day. It had lots of potatoes and enough meat in it to create the perfect hash. Topped with 2 perfectly over easy eggs, and he was happy.
I on the other hand didn’t want breakfast, but I hate to pass up an egg, so I had the best of both worlds. I ordered the burger and added an egg. Yes! Score! Perfect! It came on a brioch bun, which was so tender I ended up eating the burger with a fork, which was fine by me. It was a great burger. I had read it was supposed to be good and it lived up to what I had heard.
This place has quite a reputation and we can see why. Either pick an off time or be prepared to wait. And yes, I think it’s worth the wait.
