Pambiche

Pambiche is one of the most colorful, cheerful buildings in Portland. As a matter of fact, it was not even our destination on this day, but when we drove by we all gasped and said, “There’s Pambiche and there is no line!”

Our eating outing that day was to The Ocean to check out the food carts, gone brick and mortar. We sampled around quickly and then headed back for a full meal at Pambiche.

I do my homework when I go to a restaurant. There has to be something on the menu to lure me in, then I study the menu to see what else just might be awesome. I didn’t have time to plan ahead on this one and when I saw the menu, [Read more...]

I was excited to try The Ocean, which is the micro restaurant pod. I guess I was a little disappointed in what we encountered. I was not alone, I think all 3 of us thought it was going to be different. I really thought it was going to be more [Read more...]

Lardo

I went to a Portland Food Adventure in February where I was completely surrounded by foodies, like from every side. We spent much of the time talking about different restaurants, which you know is an endless conversation with a city like Portland. Anyways, they began talking about Lardo and I said I had never been. I wasn’t sure if they wanted to take me to counseling, reprimand me on the spot or drive me there personally.  Seriously, they were all shocked I had not been. I went home and immediately bumped it up on my list of places to eat.

Fast forward a few weeks and I am now reporting from the other side….I have now been to Lardo. I even ordered the sandwich they told me to order. I was scared to not listen to these people.

Here’s what I like about Lardo. [Read more...]

Eating My Way Thru Hood River

One of our favorite out of town getaways, that’s also close, is Hood River. There is something for everyone.  We love the food, the beer, great wine, hikes, bike rides and water sports.  That’s just the beginning of what Hood River has to offer.

Hood River offers so many great places to eat, so we really have to think about a schedule. Yes we are that bad. We plan our day around our meals. We try to get in the right amount of walking and hiking so we can keep on eating. Here is where we ate ::

Country Girl Cherry, Chorizo & Goat Cheese Pizza. Voted best pizza in Washington state by Food Network Magazine.

Solstice Wood Fire Cafe – This was our first time crossing the river into Bingen, WA to try some food. Wow, it was worth the $1 toll bridge fee to get over there, plus what a great view of Mt. Hood.  The food is wood fired, even the dessert.  They are known for their pizza. As a matter of fact [Read more...]

What’s the Scoop?

On a cold and rainy winter day in Oregon, what’s better than visiting an ice cream shop? I mean seriously, what were we thinking?  I guess it’s always a good time for ice cream, right?

I had caught wind of What’s the Scoop and learned of their creative way of making their ice cream.  Let me save myself some time and just give it to you straight from their mouths.

It is a small batch ice cream shop featuring ice cream and sorbets made from scratch and frozen with liquid nitrogen, a process which allows our ice cream to be frozen much faster than with a traditional ice cream machine.  The shorter freezing time translates into much smaller ice crystals and an extraordinary creaminess.

There are 2 things that stuck out to me when I was there, [Read more...]

I can’t even remember how long ago I bought this Groupon, but I took it all the way down to the last day to cash in on it.  Good things come to those who wait, right?

Soi 9 is Southern Thai Street food. I will be honest, I don’t know the difference, but after reviews I thought it was best to figure out the difference.

We walk in and the place is not super busy.  Many, many open tables.  She grabs the menus and takes us ALL the way [Read more...]

I know what you are thinking….What took me so long to get to this place to review it?  I don’t know. I just know I am glad we finally made it.

We went on a Sunday and barely enjoyed a great brunch. Literally we got there 5 minutes before they closed that menu. Things looked so good we ordered quickly….before our kids got there.  Yeah, we are bad parents.

Even though the afternoon was hot, we sat outside and they put up umbrellas for us.  With a Mimosa in hand I was ready to sit back and relax. [Read more...]
