Caramels, sweet caramels. I don’t eat much sugar, but having these in the house is dangerous. I had the opportunity to try these caramels recently, and I was impressed. The first thing I noticed is that they are large. I mean no one wants a small bite of caramel, right?
I was able to try 4 different flavors, Original, Chocolate, Apple Cider and Pumpkin Spice. I had to start with original, you know, see how it compares to others that I have had, and it was spot on. You take a bite and the sweet caramel taste stays on your tongue. My favorite of the flavors was the chocolate. It tasted a bit like brownies and it brought back a childhood memory of these fudge caramel sticks we used to get as kids. To this day I do not know what that candy was, but I loved that this made me think of that happy memory.
Currently they have 2 seasonal flavors, which are the Apple Cider and Pumpkin Spice. The Apple Cider is a slight take on the caramel apple, but better. You can taste the cider coming through and they were also extra creamy, if that’s even possible. The other favorite of the seasonal flavors that I tried was the Pumpkin Spice. Pumpkin flavors with the texture of ooey gooey caramel, it was a definitely winner.
You may or may not have heard of this company. They are currently selling their product in a few stores and Farmers Markets. Here is a list of places that you can find them and you will want to find them, trust me. They are hoping to one day expand their operations and move into more markets and that’s where you can come in to help. They have started a Kickstarter campaign and are hoping to raise money to make some changes in the way they do business.
Rain/Shine/Sweet is a small Portland based company made up of just 2 people. Steve, who creates these tasty treats, is the brains behind this great product. And Melanie is the in charge of all the administration, which means, she is also the brains behind this product. They make two things, caramels and brittle. Currently their products are 70% organic and local. They hope as they expand and grow that they can make that percentage even higher.
They have really thought through their Kickstarter campaign and have broken it down in a way to show you how they hope to grow this business, from their basic needs to 3 goals that they have set. In the end they hope to increase sales, improve how they make their products, hire someone to take care of the things they don’t know how to do, like web design, CPA and things along those lines. In the future they hope their whole big picture will come together with a better inventory system, more supplies and equipment and hiring someone else to help out. If you check out their Kickstarter page you will see it all laid out.
I love supporting entrepreneurs. I love seeing people with a desire to create something they are passionate about. I want nothing more than for these types of people to succeed. I believe that Rain/Shine/Sweet does have a great product and that they can succeed. Will you take just a minute to check out their Kickstarter campaign to see if there is any way you might help them out.
Disclaimer:: I was given some sweet, sweet caramels to try. I loved them, I ate most of them, but shared a few of them (because I’m nice like that). Please know that I was not paid to write a positive review, the opinions I share here are all my own and one bite of their caramels and that might be your opinion too.
