“Winter is a hard time for food carts.”
That sentence is an understatement. When the weather gets cold and and rainy we tend to want to be indoors eating. Many of the food cart pods (aside from the downtown pods) have created places where you can sit and eat, not only with a covering, but some with heaters. Several will even bring you your food when it’s ready so you don’t have to stand and wait. They are doing everything they can to make it worth your effort to come out.

Carte Blanche does all those things. She has a covered tent, with a heater and she brings your food to you when it’s ready. The other thing that is beautiful about her food is it’s warm and comforting. She changes her menu often, so what I ate might not be on your plate, but no matter what is on the menu, it will be amazing. I have tried so many different things and I have never been disappointed. I have brought numerous friends and everyone seems to love it. This is by far one of favorite food carts in Portland. I have said it before and I will say it again. Her food will literally sing in your mouth. The festival of flavors going on is mind boggling. Want to know what I really think, check out my post here and here and here. There are Vegitarian options and limited Vegan and Gluten Free options available, so be sure to ask.

So let’s get down to the good stuff. Carte Blanche is giving away a $25 gift certificate to one lucky winner, that is to be used from now through February. Bring a friend because you can taste more things and you WILL want to taste more things. I’m not a dessert lover, but her desserts are pretty amazing, so plan on saving room for whatever she is offering.

ohhhh your food looks amazing! I would luv to go to Switzerland & eat the cheese, chocolate, & bread there whilst gazing at the incredible mountains!!!!
I would travel to Spain and have paella.
MMM I’ve never been and I live so close. Must try. Sounds so good.
As far as traveling to other countries for their food, I can really say. I don’t travel much. So wherever I go, I’d want to go to the place known for their yummy vegetarian food. I did travel to Oakland recently and discovered Souley Vegan. If anybody spends time near Jack London Square, that would be a great vegetarian option.
I love Carte Blanche, it’s gotta be the best food cart in this food-cart-utopia-city. Just feasted on Important Helmet From Outer Space the other day!
I’d go to the French countryside and eat fresh cheeses from the farms where they’re made. So. Much. Brie.
You gotta love the names too!
I liked Carte Blanche on facebook!
And I would go to Hawaii and eat fresh pineapple! Or Italy and have FRESH pasta. 🙂
I haven’t been to Carte Blanche yet. Going to try it for sure (with or without the prize!).
So many places that I want to travel to but would pick London first. Sitting in a pub with a pint and a pasty is at the top of my list.
I love Carte Blanche so much, that friends have commented about my obsession. In fact, I may need a 12-step program if this place ever shut down. This is my favorite food cart AND restaurant in Portland.
I would go to Phnom Penh and eat fried crickets. Or go to Hawaii and have a fresh banana.
Awesome post Amy! Love the pictures! What restaurant have you had the best cornbread? Remember to add it to your Besty List! http://www.thebesty.com/eatingmywaythruportland
Anywhere in South America and I’d order some grilled beef!
I love this cart. And I would love to go to Paris and eat a crepe from a street vendor.
I would go to Florence, Italy, have any fresh pasta dish and then a cannoli for dessert.
Liked on Facebook…and I’d love to go home (Lancaster, Pennsylvania) and eat a mushroom cheese steak with sauce, mushrooms and onions 🙂
I would like to go to Dingle, Ireland and in a pub, have Irish Stew with a Guinness.
Only been here once, but loved it and would like to go back.
For me? Sounds kind of boring but I’d love to go to Italy and just eat a TON of fresh pasta and wine….

I would like to go back to NYC and enjoy Junior’s Cheesecake & some of the tasty bagels made in the city.
Carte Blanche is my favorite restaurant in Portland! Talk about delicious and the food is priced so reasonably. This weekend we were there trying out the mac n’ cheese. YUM! I’ve already liked Carte Blanche on facebook.
I had to give some thought to your question. My ancestors are from Holland, so I’ve always wanted to travel there. A couple of years ago my uncle and cousin biked across Holland and met a bunch of our distant relatives. Apparently one guy looked and acted exactly like my Dad! I don’t know much about Dutch food, so I had to do a little research to finish my comment. I love all things breakfasty, so I think I’d like to try poffertjes, which are small, fluffy pancakes made with yeast and buckwheat flour. Apparently they come with a tiny fork to spread butter on them and then eat them. YUM!
Amy – I’m new to Portland and love your blog.
Jessie – My husband and I will be frequenting your food cart throughout winter. Thanks for making such tasty food!
Evie I love the tip. We are headed to Holland in the spring, so I’m liking your idea.
