I got harassed by a restaurant owner (you know who you are) who said I hadn’t been to any new places lately. She had been checking in on my blog and had noticed I had no new posts. Although I knew she was totally kidding since we had been in to her place twice within a few weeks. Some places are just so awesome you have to keep going back. Plus when we end up with out of town guests we have to take them to our favorite spots to really show off Portland.
In the past years I have done just favorites of the new places I have tried throughout the year. Since we found ourselves frequenting the same places over and over I thought I might as well highlight them to you.
Hitting up the favorites of 2015. In no particular order….

We go here way too often, but we can’t help ourselves. The food is always spot on, the service is stellar every time and the drinks are creative and they always seem to have something new up their sleeves. Plus the main bartender loves whiskey as much as my husband so he always makes sure he tries the newest drinks.
Their menu changes often because they are a farm to table restaurant, but one thing that seems to be a staple (and please don’t change this) is the beet salad. People that don’t like beets will eat this salad every single time.
Masu was our go to place for sushi this year. You know it’s bad good when the Sushi chef recognizes you and knows what you like. Everything is constantly fresh, the sake suggestions are always spot on and services is fantastic.

This was one of my favorite sandwich shops this year. The green bean sandwich is just as good as every review you hear about it. Last year during the spring they turned it into an asparagus sandwich, but I missed it.

This place still is high on our list of favorites that we visited numerous times this year. Funny thing is, as I sit here and write this my neightbor just came in and said “Next time we go out let’s go to Bollywood.” It’s such a great place to go with a group so you can share food, so all that to say, looks like my next visit is all but planned.

This pizza place was easily the restaurant we went to the most. Whenever our kids are in town they ask to go, the in laws like to go when they visit as well. Not only that but we love taking guests here too. It’s always so good. They really have the consistency down, which I do appreciate.

This food cart has totally wowed me. Their chicken is some of my favorite in town. I have only been twice, but we were just talking the other day about going back because it’s been way too long since our last visit.

The first time I ever went to this place I took my son with me. We both loved it and he has since been back numerous times and taking friends when he goes. So if you like Acai bowls, try this place out.

They had this breakfast pizza with mushrooms on it and I just can’t get this dish off my mind. We have attempted a few times to get back over just for this dish alone, but it has not happened. But I will be back, just please don’t take it off the menu before I get back there.
Favorites just outside of Portland
- Red Hills Market in Dundee. If you just so happen to be in wine country you will need to check this place out. We usually get the Roast beef sandwich and the Coppa Pizza. Every now and then we will try a special, but for the most part we have our staples that we like here.
- Sawatdee in Sherwood has some of my favorite Thai food. I actually have a few staples at this joint. I like the Pad Se Ew, Pad Thai and Lana’s favorite.
- And how I can I leave out Word of Mouth. Best breakfast place hands down.
On a sad note, favorite restaurants that shut their doors this year.
- Cocotte
- Farm Cafe
- Sugar Mama’s who had the best cinnamon rolls in town.
- just to name a few, lots of closings this year it seems like
Ones to check out if you haven’t already. I can’t wait to see what all they do next year.
- Renata
- Taylor Railworks
- OX
Ok, what have I missed? What are your favorites?
